Hello, I'm Carter, the 27-year-old owner of Big Mountain Landscaping Co. I was born and raised right here in Calgary, and I love this city! Like many other Canadians, I grew into a wildly passionate hockey player with a dream of playing in the big leagues. In the end it didn’t quite work out that way, but I did play at a high level, and attribute many of my biggest character-building lessons to my trials and tribulations in the sport. At age 19 I started my first solo landscaping operation, LawnCarter Landscaping (not the best name in hindsight), and ran it for 3 years while playing Junior ‘A’ hockey for the Okotoks Oilers. At 21, I decided to go back to school, enrolling in the business program at the University of Vicoria’s Gustavson school of business. Four years later I returned, degree in hand, and have been working in business development at a small technology company for the past few years. Last summer I decided to get back into landscaping, initially as a great way to make some extra money - but then I realized how much I like the work and the fulfillment of helping people enjoy their outdoor spaces. This growing season my goal is to expand the operation to 35-50 clients, doing more of what I enjoy, employing a young driven university student, and helping more folks enjoy their beautiful properties!
